SUNRISE, Fla. -- As they have in the past, the Chicago Blackhawks Jersey were hoping to find some quality prospects outside of the NHL's draft first round.

After having zero picks in the first round on the opening day of the draft, the Blackhawks have seven selections on Saturday's second day.

The Blackhawks Hoodie drafted forward Graham Knott in the second round with the No. 56 overall selection, a compensatory pick for being unable to sign 2010 first-round draft pick Kevin Hayes.

Knott, 18, is a 6-foot-4, 190-pound forward. He had 25 goals and 18 assists in 59 games for the Niagara IceDogs of the OHL last season. Knott said he tries to model his game after the New Jersey Devils' Adam Henrique.

“I think I’m a two-way forward,” Knott said. “I’m good in my own zone, can chip in on the offense and throw my weight around a little bit.”

The Blackhawks selected defenseman Dennis Gilbert in the third round with the No. 91 overall pick. Gilbert, 18, is a 6-foot-3, 201-pound defenseman. He had four goals and 23 assists in 59 games for the Chicago Steel of the USHL last season. He is from Buffalo, N.Y., and is committed to Notre Dame.

“It’s very unique how everything has fit together very well,” Gilbert said. “Obviously, being in Chicago last year, learning about the city and seeing the team play and getting a gauge on who they are as an organization. And obviously they have members of management from Buffalo, which is another cool connection there, and they have the development camp right there in Chicago. I’ve played in Chicago for the Steel. They’re at Notre Dame for their training camp. It’s pretty cool how everything is tying together and coming together.”

The Blackhawks drafted defenseman Ryan Shea, 18, in the fourth round with the No. 121 overall pick. Shea, who is 6-foot-1 and 175 pounds, played last season at Boston College High. He is committed to Northeastern.

The Blackhawks took forward Radovan Bondra, 18, in the fifth round with the No. 151 overall pick. Bondra, who is 6-foot-6 and 220 pounds, is from Slovakia and had two goals and two assists in 15 games for Kosice HC in Slovakia last season.

The Blackhawks selected forward Roy Radke, 18, in the sixth round with the No. 164 overall pick. Radke, who is 6-foot-3 and 203 pounds, grew up in Geneva, Ill. He had nine goals and nine assists in 64 games with the Barrie Colts of the OHL last season.

“Growing up just always loved the Blackhawks and everything, so it’s like a dream come true,” Radke said.

The Blackhawks took defenseman Joni Tuulola, 19, in the sixth round with the No. 181st overall pick. Tuulola, who is 6-foot-3 and 180 pounds, is from Finland and had five goals and five assists in 32 games with HPK Hameenlinna in the liiga last season.
